The Teachers Box on display at the Museum of Cambridge. A box of samples and natural materials for teaching.

The Museum of Cambridge is a fantastic place to explore and learn about the history of Cambridge. We are now taking bookings for our ‘Curator for a Day’ school trips, with an option for a half-day or full day of exciting workshops. We also offer educational Loan Boxes, which enable students and teachers to get hands on with historic objects and topics from the comfort of the classroom.

Curator for a Day

Our ‘Curator for a Day’ school trip gives students the chance to learn what goes into running a Museum. With strong links to the KS2 and KS3 History curriculum, both the half-day and full day sessions ask students to consider why we display objects in museums, what stories we tell and analyse primary and secondary source materials.

Get hands on with objects from the Museum of Cambridge’s collection that no one normally gets to see. Gain fascinating insights into Cambridgeshire’s local history. Explore the Museum through the unique lens of a curator.

Loan Boxes

Easy to book and easy to use, teachers can choose from a selection of topics that are suitable for primary students. We hire out loan boxes for £10 a week with pick up available from the museum. Inside is everything you need to develop a lesson and get hands on with historic objects.

Loan boxes are easy to book, please get in touch at enquiries@museumofcambridge.org.uk with the loan box you would like and when you would like to borrow it.
