It’s so tough making friends down here at the Museum. It’s the everlasting burden of being a momento mori like me – who’d want to be reminded of death all day every day? Well, actually I suppose people did for a while – momento mori like me have been around in Europe since the medieval period, passing on the message to onlookers, ‘remember that you have to die’. Cheerful stuff.

I’ve had 400 years of scaring people away, day after day – it gets to you, you know? But I reckon you can see that deep down, I’m a friendly little guy. And I’m super loyal – I’ve been around since the 16th century. Made of stone, I’m pretty robust, but changes to temperature and cause cracks and chips to form – so don’t take me for granted!
