What do Magna Carta, drawings by Leonardo da Vinci and the manuscript of Pride and Prejudice all have in common?

They were all written using iron gall ink!

Come and learn how this ancient recipe of oak galls (made by tiny wasps!) and rusty nails combine to create beautiful black ink used across the world for hundreds of years at this FREE workshop.

See each step of the process and have a go at making your own ink. Then, use a feather quill pen and write like our ancestors!

Each session of this workshop will be identical, so choose one and book your place below. Tickets are free but you must book in advance.

We are in the centre of Cambridge. You’ll find us at the corner of Castle Street and Northampton Street. We are right beside Kettle’s Yard and only a 15-minute walk from King’s College.
