The Museum on a Bike will be popping up all over Cambridge this Summer as we bring the history of the city to an event near you!
Our Engagement Officer Alex will be bringing historical objects from the Museum to a variety of the wonderful outdoor events taking place this summer for you to handle, bringing you closer than ever to the social history so many of us take for granted.
Popular objects will be returning, like our History of Toys collection, including original diabolos, spinning tops and more, to fascinate and delight you as you see what people were playing with 100 years ago.
We’ll also have a selection of archaeological finds from the local area, including some Roman pottery and a Stone Age tool from over 100,000 years ago!
Find the Museum on a Bike at Akeman Street Community Centre for their community event 12-4pm, Thursday 15th of August, where Alex will bring some items from the history of cooking to link in with their theme.
The bike will also ride over to Music in the Parks onthe 18th of August at Nuns Way Recreation Ground, or again at Dudley Road on the 1st of September to learn while you listen.
Come and say hi to Alex at the Out of the Ordinary festival on Saturday 24th of August at what promises to be a truly memorable event!
Last but not least, come along to Cambridge United Football Ground on the 21st of August for Eager Explorers, a day all about science and discovery. The Museum on a Bike will be loaded up with extra special objects all about science and technology so don’t miss out!
All that in just one month! You can be sure that the Museum on a Bike will be zipping around almost non-stop throughout the summer and into the autumn, so keep an eye out and give Alex a wave if you see them!
