Adopt an Object for Christmas

Running out of gift ideas for Christmas? Want to give a different kind of present this year? Why not gift an Adopt an Object to someone!

As the festive season approaches, the Museum of Cambridge invites history enthusiasts and patrons of heritage to gift a unique gift -an Adopt an Object. The Adopt an Object programme allows supporters to adopt an object in our 40,000 strong collection, to aid the care for the objects and help preserve Cambridge’s heritage for future generations. Each object has its own intricately woven connection to Cambridge’s past, and this initiative offers an exclusive opportunity to forge a personal connection with history.

When you adopt an object, patrons receive an information pack, printed photograph of the object, an official certificate of adoption, and two free tickets to visit the Museum and your object. Your adoption lasts 12 months from date of commencement, and can be renewed annually.

Adoptions are unique, offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Find a piece that resonates with you and your historical interests. The adoption list is endless, as any object in the Museum can be adopted! We have a number listed on our website, but if something in the Museum piques your interest, don’t hesitate to contact us about its adoption via email at enquiries@museumofcambridge.org.uk or call 01223 355159. Donations range from £25-£100 and is not only a unique gift idea but also a chance to establish a personal link with Cambridge’s captivating past.

So this Christmas, choose a different type of gift for your loved ones! Become an integral part of preserving and sharing Cambridge’s hidden narratives by Adopting an Object.
